Where to dump it
Where to take a trailer load of construction debris, brush, or junk in Pickens, Greenville, and Anderson counties, with hours, fees, and the rules that trip people up.
Before you load up
Four things to know first
Use your own county
County sites are run for that county's residents. Pickens and most of Easley are in Pickens County, Powdersville is in Anderson County, and Greenville and Travelers Rest are in Greenville County. If you're not sure, your property tax bill will say. Bring proof of where you live.
Sort as you load
Keep construction debris (lumber, drywall, shingles) separate from yard and land-clearing debris (brush, limbs, stumps, dirt). Some sites won't take them mixed, and some charge different rates for each.
Call ahead
Hours, fees, and holiday closures change. Most county landfills close early for debris intake, and some close on weekends. A two-minute call can save you a wasted trip.
Cover or tie down the load
South Carolina law requires it, and it applies to trips to the dump. See covering your load below.

Plan the load
How much fits in the dump trailer
Loaded level with the top of its 24" sides, the 6.5' × 12' bed holds roughly 5½ to 6 cubic yards. That's handy for landfills that charge by the cubic yard.
Heavy material fills the weight limit long before it fills the bed. Dirt, gravel, concrete, and shingles can max out the trailer's payload (the weight it can carry) with the bed only partly full, so load heavy material low and leave room at the top. Light, bulky loads like brush and household junk are the ones that fill the bed.
At the dump: raise the bed only while the trailer is hitched to your truck on firm, level ground, never under power lines or tree limbs, and keep everyone clear of the bed. Lower it all the way before you drive off.
The law
Covering your load
South Carolina's load law (SC Code § 56-5-4100) covers trailers headed to the dump:
- Rock, gravel, dirt, and waste loads must sit at least 6 inches below the top of the trailer's sides, or be covered with a tarp.
- Our dump trailer comes with a mesh tarp kit, so you have what you need to cover the load.
- Every load, and any tarp over it, must be tied down so nothing can come loose.
- Sweep loose gravel off the fenders and frame before you pull out.
- A violation carries a $100 fine, and if something falls onto the road you're responsible for the cost of cleaning it up.
Dumping anywhere other than an approved site is illegal dumping (SC Code § 16-11-700). Fines climb with the amount dumped, up to $1,000 and a year in jail for more than 500 pounds. A full trailer load is well over 500 pounds.
Renting from us
Bring it back empty
Dump your load and give the bed a quick sweep before you return it. A trailer that comes back with dirt, debris, or any of your load left in it is charged a $50 cleaning fee plus the cost of disposal. If we delivered your trailer, we can't haul or dump your load, so it must be empty when we come to pick it up. See the rental terms for details.
